Gingerbread Biz (since 2018)

Melbourne's terrace streetscapes, rendered in gingerbread. Made-to-order since 2018, popular as Christmas decorations, gifts, and the occasional commission of a client's actual home.

I design and bake each one from scratch: sketch, Illustrator, cardboard prototype, then the real thing. Melbourne terraces are full of beautiful details: ornate lacework, tessellated tiles, decorated parapets, so there's a lot of satisfying work in deciding what to simplify for miniature scale.

Some people have loved them so much they still haven't eaten them. Gingerbread lasts a long time, but not forever, though they still look pretty good.

The terrace house lives on in my broader practice. I'm now illustrating them as part of Plum Plum Land.
