Me — Plum Plum Studio

About

I'm Audrey, a product designer and educator based in Naarm (Melbourne). Honours in fashion design, Masters in IT, six years in software. I love building systems that are useful and (hopefully) beautiful too. My personal experience with neurodivergence shapes my approach to design. I'm all about flexible systems that address meaningful problems and empower real people, especially the ones most often overlooked.

In my personal practice, I'm a passionate maker of anything and everything. Endlessly inspired by retrofuturism, pop art and the Bravoverse.

My Approach

Creative

I'm a Figma power user and love working across all fidelities: rough sketches and prototypes through to polished, responsive design systems. I research, experiment and iterate in pursuit of the best feasible design. I also dabble in digital illustration and graphic design, and have sharp instincts about what looks and feels right. Recovering perfectionist.

Technical

Masters in IT, experience in shaping enterprise products, and a genuine obsession with breaking down complexity. I love getting into the weeds (integrations, data migrations, workflow modelling) and bridging the gap between technical and non-technical teams. Actively building AI fluency and always reaching for the right tools.

Collaborative

Accessible and inclusive design matter a lot to me. I want the things I make to work for the full range of people who'll use them. I'm a Certified Scrum Product Owner who loves facilitating workshops and co-design processes; there's nothing like getting the right people in the room and bridging across different perspectives. I've spent years teaching UX and coding, and love mentoring young designers.

About Plum Plum

This site is named after my childhood imaginary friend 'Plum Plum', a mysterious little character who I now use as a relational shorthand for making sense of language models. I'm currently developing Plum Plum Land as a passion project. The goal is to build out an illustrated framework to demystify the tech stack, understand the nuanced capabilities and risks of AI systems, and explore their place in Australian communities.
