Why

AI is showing up everywhere: in classrooms, workplaces, family group chats. Most people didn't ask for it and weren't given a map. Not just a technical one, but an emotional and ethical one. What do we actually value? Does the technology we're building reflect that?

Welcome

Plum Plum Land is a cartoon world where a digital Earth orbits a digital Sun, where Earthlings live and work together, and Plum Plums process data in powerful and surprising ways. Devices hum along doing exactly what they're told. The stories emerge in how all three collaborate, and sometimes clash.

Navigate a spectrum of abstraction and a spiral of spacetime, from base layer reality through to the speculative world of AI systems. Each layer is its own realm; each one has an Earthling Guide to help you find your footing and keep one foot planted in real-world Melbourne.

Moving through the world builds something practical: a feel for how data gets made from lived experience, how that shapes what technology can and can't see, how to tell when a system is actually serving you, and how to collaborate with AI with clear eyes.

What It's Becoming

Zines, posters, and lesson plans designed for CMYK printing so they can be run off on a home printer or photocopied at a library. No budget required.

Particularly for women and girls, who've always been part of these communities and not always part of the conversation.
